DIY Tips: Raising a Gateleg Table to Cutting Table Height from Dueling Threads

I recently decided (while spending several weekends cutting projects) that I needed to raise my cutting table. I use a wood gate-leg style table and I leave it set up all the time. This particular model is (9.5″W folded); 65.5″Wx36″Dx30.5″H. I think that it came from Crate and Barrel.

This is what mine has looked like since my original purchase.

It allows me to use the Martelli X-Large 30 x 60 cutting mat, but since it is a standard dining table height, always felt too low when cutting for longer periods of time. I struggled to figure out a good way to raise it ...

You will never be bored if you have a dog or two from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

WOW --- -what a wild weekend. I'm almost thankful for Monday and only a sewing Zoom to attend! There are so many lightbulbs going on, and people are getting excited about the possibilities of what they can do with their tools. I don't know how the rest of the groups felt, but I was WAY overstimulated yesterday. My brain was going in a thousand different directions, so I decided to walk to calm everything down.

Of course, Miss Murphy was right at the door, begging for a second walk. I told her I would take her if we could ...

Thank you Mom and Dad! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Several years ago, I worked for a fabric company, and I thought I had died and gone to heaven. I won't go into detail, but let's just say we did not see eye to eye. I was let go (a..k.a. You're FIRED!), and I felt a bit sad at the time.

However, I've realized that was the BEST thing that could have happened to me. The industry/market experience I gained was invaluable (yes -- enough to put up with the "issues"), and now I have an even better job. I'm working with technology ...

New habits from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

There are TWO new habits that I want to add to my OCD behavior this year. One is to write in The Happiness Project book every day! It takes no time at all, and the second is to respond to ALL the comments in a timely manner that people post on the blog. So far -- I'm good!

As M (my daughter) mentioned and I had planned, The Happiness Project book (that's the blue book I just found again) is by my bed, as well as those new snazzy colored gel pens. My writing sucks, and it is even ...

Binding quilts! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Things are under control at my house, and it feels great! I'm not sure why every once in a while, there is this mad kerfuffle - I guess it's all a question of having to prep too much stuff for the weekend or something like that. It is UFO weekend and I still have two quilts of my own to quilt and bind, so it's not like I'm out of the woods, but I like being under control.

It was Monday sewing and I decided it was time to get some quilts bound! OH first I should ...

Making Lemonade Out of BANG Table from Quilts + Color

When my table fell and broke I tried to figure out what to do as I did need a table to work on. I had other tables but they weren't right.
All of a sudden a light bulb went off in my head as I remembered I had a cutting table in the studio that I wasn't using.
My friend Bob came over and moved the broken table out of the way.
He also single handedly carried this down the stairs.
It is even better than what I was using as it is the proper height for cutting ...
